Bienvenido Applauds Texas Legislature for Historic Wins

May 31, 2023

Bienvenido, a leading Hispanic advocacy group, commends the Texas Legislative Session for its commitment to conservative values and policy wins that prioritize the well-being and interests of our community. We stand proudly behind specific bills that address concerns and ensure a responsible use of taxpayer funds.

Senate Bill 17 is a significant accomplishment that eliminates DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) offices, programs, and training at publicly funded universities. We believe that these initiatives, while initially well-intentioned, have been hijacked by radical ideologues who push divisive agendas rather than fostering genuine inclusivity. This legislation ensures that our educational institutions can focus on providing a high-quality education without being burdened by ideological indoctrination.

SB15, also known as the Saving Women's Sports bill, is another victory for fairness and competition. By requiring participants in intercollegiate athletic competitions to compete based on their biological sex, this legislation protects the integrity of women's sports and ensures a level playing field for female athletes. It preserves the opportunities and achievements of women in sports while upholding biological realities.

SB14 is a crucial step in safeguarding the well-being of children. This legislation prohibits certain procedures and treatments for gender transitioning, gender reassignment, or gender dysphoria in minors. It recognizes the importance of protecting vulnerable children from irreversible medical interventions that could have long-term consequences.

Additionally, SB12 addresses the regulation of sexually oriented performances, particularly in the presence of individuals under 18 years of age. This legislation aims to protect our youth and create safe environments by limiting such performances on the premises of commercial enterprises and public property. By establishing civil penalties and criminal offenses, this bill sends a clear message that we protect children in the Lone Star State.

Lastly, SB 763 acknowledges the role of chaplains in public schools, recognizing the importance of providing spiritual support to students. This legislation allows for the inclusion of chaplaincy services, fostering an environment that promotes personal growth, values, and ethical principles among our future generations.

Bienvenido applauds the Texas Legislative Session for these conservative policy wins, which promote responsible use of taxpayer funds, protect the integrity of women's sports, prioritize the well-being of children, safeguard the innocence of our youth, and acknowledge the significance of spiritual guidance in education. We remain dedicated to advancing conservative values and advocating for the rights and interests of Hispanics in Texas and across America.
